Union Park at Norterra features nine unique and private community parks, all centrally located to provide open gathering spaces for resident recreation, events, celebrations and a place to relax and take in the beauty of the community. Homes surround each park, creating opportunities for residents to connect with their neighbors. The parks include Legacy Park, Liberty Park, Honor Park, Heritage Park, Union Bark Park (Dog Park), Freedom Park, Independence Park, Memorial Park, and Founders Park. There are two additional parks planned for future development phases.

Union Park is proud to honor and dedicate each park to individuals who made significant contributions to the acquisition and development of the community.

Legacy Park

A large plaza and covered ramada serve as excellent neighborhood gathering spaces for a wide variety of community events. In addition, the park features a grand staircase that opens to an open turf area for recreational activities.

Dedicated to: Major General Jose Roble, Jr., USA, Retired – CEO of USAA from 2007-2015

Liberty Park

This park was designed as an ‘urban plaza’ and features two identical parks that are linked together with dual plazas and picnic tables, string Tivoli lights, and a sport court with two basketball hoops.

Dedicated to: Edward B. Kelley – CEO of USAA Real Estate Company from 1989-2005

Honor Park

This large park serves as an active place area for residents and includes a play structure and swing set. A lush landscape area celebrates the native desert and provides shade for passive play or relaxation.

Dedicated to: S. Wayne Peacock – Current CEO of USAA since 2020

Heritage Park

This park will feature a large, turfed open area surrounded by lush landscaping ideal for neighbors to play, socialize and relax.

Dedicated to: Robert G. Davis – CEO of USAA from 2000-2007

Union Bark Park (Dog Park)

This linear park will be a perfect place for residents to connect and their furry friends to get some exercise! The park includes bike racks, benches, pet waste stations and tables and chairs.

Freedom Park

This whimsical park will feature two terraced areas, including a large turf play field for recreation and events and a community play area featuring a play slide, shade tables, permanent cornhole boards, a lighted shade sail, and string lights.

Independence Park

This intimate neighborhood park is centered on a staircase that will lead down to a small turf open zone for informal play. The park will be play-centered, featuring a play structure and a shade trellis with bench swings.

Memorial Park

This long linear park contains a shade structure, play structure, seating areas, raised steel planters and a bocce ball court. Open turf areas are situated on both sides of the amenities for active play, throwing a frisbee or resident events.

Founders Park

This unique park features interesting gathering spaces, emulating a backyard area that invites everyone to gather. Nobel Park contains a unique water feature and a large trellis. On one side of the trellis is a collection of hammocks under shade trees. The other side of the trellis contains an active play structure. Living metal walls surround the park spaces with different colors of vines to give the park a private and inviting atmosphere, with a large turf area nearby for events and resident gatherings.
